The Disappearance

In September 2023, the Civil Police decided to reopen the investigation into the disappearance of Marco Aurélio — a 15-year-old scout who vanished in 1985 at Pico dos Martins, a densely forested area. Despite decades of searches, the boy was never found. However, new evidence prompted the resumption of the search, and the police chose Radaz's innovative technology to assist in the mission.

How Could This Technology Help in the Case?

Given the complexity of the area, the police's choice was strategic. Radaz's radar, mounted on a drone, flew over the region, emitting waves from one of its bands designed to penetrate the ground. These waves can reach depths of up to 50 meters, making it possible to detect human remains and other buried objects.

Despite the efforts, which included both the use of our technology and conventional methods, Marco Aurélio's body was not found yet, as some areas still need to be dug. However, the materials that have already been located are being analyzed by the authorities.

The conclusion and the impact of this achievement

The search was concluded within the same month, due to rain, and so far, there are currently no plans for further operations. Even though the expected result was not achieved, it is gratifying to know that Radaz's technology can be used to assist in such crucial societal matters.
